Read Em’ & Weep…With Delight!

That’s Russian for…something someone in Russia would say to someone else who might also be in Russia who’s also hopefully Russian so they’d understand the sentiment. Scary how my this steel trap of a mind I have works, isn’t it?
Right. So, a couple of updates:
Uno: Thank you to everybody who pre-ordered Andy Stevenson Vs the Lord of the Loins! Much appreciated. You haven’t received them yet. I know because I haven’t received copies I ordered yet either. Yup, that’s right. I have to pay for my own copies, too. I received this note from my publisher this morning on the matter.
Andy Stevenson Vs. the Lord of the Loins by Kage Alan
“Alas, the pre-orders were delayed. My shipment is due for delivery tomorrow, so I’ll spend Thursday getting them ready to ship and they should go out Friday. Shortly after the book was released, we discovered a glaring error and opted to send a corrected file, which took the book out of circulation for a couple days.”
Dos: My first interview was posted on the web! I’ve sent the link out to a couple of you, so if you’ve already seen it, please skip to the next announcement. For the rest of you, it’s meant for your enjoyment. The interview can be found here. Please feel free to leave feedback. I can’t since I’d only be critiquing myself and you can’t believe the $hit I’ll say about myself! It’s brutal.
Tres: We have book signings! I’m working on an additional 5, but thus far we have the following:
Aug. 02, 2008 Just 4 Us (Ferndale, Michigan) <—Book Launch!
Aug. 17, 2008 Outword Bound (Indianapolis, Indiana)
Sep. 20, 2008 Common Language Book Bar (Ann Arbor, Michigan)
Nov. 3-4, 2008 Q Trading Co. (Palm Springs, California)
INTERMISSION: I was on the phone with the Oscar Wilde Bookstore in NYC to see about setting up a signing there. The owner answered the phone, I introduced myself, mentioned the new book yadda yadda yadda and she seemed enthusiastic about it. Her follow-up question switched to “Who’s your publisher?” I told her and that’s when her demeanor changed completely. We’re talking ice storm. “Signings here are by invitation only.” I believe I offended her by not having been published by one of the larger houses. Bad! Bad lowly gay man with a non-mega-publisher!
Cuatro: Both A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to My Sexual Orientation and Andy Stevenson Vs the Lord of the Loins are now available on Amazon! Am working on getting them available through Borders, but that’s turning into an interesting and long, drawn-out process. Barnes & Noble has the newest one listed, so we’ll see if they pick up the reissue of the first one.
Cinco: The Hong Kong Grandmother has left the building! Yes, the evil one has fled back to Hong Kong.
That’s about all for now, but there will be more in the near future.
–Reviews from critics
–Reviews from readers
–Actually receiving copies of the book
–Meet the crew helping make the tour a little less confusing for me despite their not getting paid!
Now I’ll leave you with the immortal words of Britney Spears…in Chinese…because I can: 再次击中我婴孩!
